Obituary for John Davis Tripp,

BREWER – John Davis Tripp, 79, died February 16, 2015 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 1, 1935 in Bangor, son of John Davis and Violet (White) Tripp, Sr.

John was educated in the Bangor school and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a well-known Brewer businessman and founded AAA Security in 1972, which he and his wife operated for 42 years. John will be remembered for his love of woodworking, photography and his extraordinary masonic affiliations. He attended the First United Methodist Church of Brewer. John was a member and Past Master of Rising Virtue Lodge #10, AF & AM of Bangor. He also served as Chaplain and Treasurer. John was a member of Howard Lodge #69 of Winterport, the Eastern Star Lodge of Perfection, Palestine Princes of Jerusalem, Bangor Chapter of Rose Croix, Maine Consistory 32  and was coronated a 33  on September 25, 2001 and a honorary member of the Supreme Council of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of the United States of America. He was active in the York Rite Bodies as a member of Mt. Moriah Chapter, Bangor Council, St. John’s Commandery, Tamerlane Red Cross of Constantine, Most Illustrious, Past Grandmasters of the Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters of Maine.

Surviving are his wife, Phyllis “Charlie” Tripp of Brewer; three children, Lisa K. Parker and her husband, Dave of Florida, John D. Tripp III and Mary of St. Albans and Michael C. Tripp and his wife, Heather of Ohio; six grandchildren, Toni Marie, Christopher, Joshua, Isabelle, Treasure and Brittany; nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by four brothers, Roy, Cyril, Richard and Calvin, three sisters, Cynthia, Clover and Clematis.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5 to 7pm Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main Street, Brewer where a Masonic service will be conducted at 6:30pm by the Officers and Members of Rising Virtue Lodge. A funeral service will be held 1pm Thursday, February 19th at the Funeral Home with pastor Harbour Mitchell III of the First United Methodist Church of Brewer, presiding. The family invites relatives and friends to share in conversation and refreshments at the First United Methodist Church, 40 South Main Street, Brewer immediately following the service Thursday.
