Obituary for Peter Scott Mackintosh

BANGOR – Peter Scott Mackintosh, 55, died Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at his home. He was born July 27, 1959 in Bangor, son of the late John Herbert and Patricia Mary (Ferry) Mackintosh.
Peter graduated from Brewer High School in 1977 and the University of Maine in 1981. He earned a teaching and accounting degree. Peter was a CPA, working as a controller at Allied Cook Construction in South Portland and, most recently, for Webber Oil Company in Bangor. Peter was an excellent athlete and enjoy playing golf, skiing, hiking, and especially competing in triathlons. He also completed the Mount Washington Bike Race three times accompanied by his longtime biking partners, Chuck Tingley and Jim Hill. Peter loved swimming most of all. A natural swimmer, he belonged to a Master Swim Class and competed every year in the Peaks to Portland Swim. Peter was a past President of the Bangor Humane Society and active in the Big Brother Program. Peter’s greatest accomplishment was his two children, Sean and Erin. He was extremely proud of both of them and loved watching them in all of their activities. One of the highlights for him was the annual camping trip to Bar Harbor with his children. He passed on his love of sports to Sean and his love of reading to Erin.

Peter is survived by his mother, Pat Mackintosh of Hampden; his son, Sean Mackintosh, his daughter, Erin Mackintosh and his brother, Jon Mackintosh, all of Bangor. He is also survived by his uncle, Donald Mackintosh and his wife, Janet of Northeast Harbor and two cousins, Lisa and Jamie. In addition to his father, J. Herbert Mackintosh, Peter was predeceased by his brother, Robert H. Mackintosh.

A funeral liturgy outside of Mass will be held 11am Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share memories and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor, immediately following the service Wednesday. Private Rite of Committal will be at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor. Those who wish to remember Peter in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mount Hope Avenue, Bangor, ME 04401.
