Obituary for Margaret Elaine Ludwig (Bliss)

MARGARET BLISS LUDWIG

Margaret Elaine Bliss Ludwig passed away peacefully at Ross Manor on Thursday evening 30 July 2015 at the wonderful age of 94. She had lived at Ross Manor for almost 13 years. After spending her early years in Presque Isle and Belfast, her father, The Reverend Francis William Bliss, was transferred by the Episcopal church to provide pastoral care for prisoners at Ryker's Island in New York City. Margaret then spent most of the rest of her life in the metropolitan area. She attended The New England Conservatory of Music majoring in voice and piano; she also went to Katy Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston. Throughout her adult years she sang with both church and secular choirs and performed frequently as a soloist – she specialized in the baroque classics and for a while sang with Emanuel Ax's choir. One of her favorite memories was driving out to North Dakota in her daughter's MGB sportscar with the top down with many a trucker sounding his horn at two young ladies in a smashing car. Margaret was married to Thomas Arthur Ludwig who sadly died in 1979. She is survived by her daughter, Marie Geraldine Ludwig, her son, Thomas Arthur Ludwig, Jr. and elder brother, Francis Royster Bliss of New Vineyard, Maine.
