Winterport – Marjorie Edith Ellingwood, 80, died unexpectedly August 18, 2015, at a Belfast Hospital. She was born December 5, 1934, in Bangor, the daughter of Laurice and Geneva (Bates) Norton. Marjorie attended school in Carmel and Newburg. She married David Ellingwood Sr., and lived in Hampden and Winterport for most of her life. Before David’s passing in 2009, they had celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary.
Marjorie was an avid reader and crafter. She enjoyed cooking, and taking care of her rose garden. Marjorie loved her dogs and had three long time furry friends, “Trudy, Scrapper and Muffin” She was always thinking of someone other than herself and was a compassionate care giver. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister Marie Bates. Marjorie is survived by her son David Ellingwood Jr., and his wife, Kathy of Winterport; two daughters Judi Bither and her husband, Jim of Millinocket and Claudette Nason and her husband, David of Winterport; grandchildren, Christy Deane, Kati Grant, Shane Deane, Matthew Nason, James Nason, and Eric Ellingwood; great grandchildren, Britni, Jackson, and Owen Grant; her brother Howard Norton and family of Florida; sister-in-law and dearest friend, Bethany Carlson of Fort Worth, TX.
A graveside service will be held 12noon Friday, September 4, 2015 at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta. Memorial donations in Marjorie’s memory may be made to the Maine Veterans Home, 44 Hogan Road Bangor, Maine 04401. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com
