Obituary for Jack R. Whitney

Jack R. Whitney, 75, died peacefully August 25, 2015, after a long illness. He was born in Lee, Maine February 2, 1940, the youngest child of Walter and Una (Lowell) Whitney.

Jack was a graduate of Lee Academy Class of 1958. He then began an apprenticeship at GE in Lynn, MA. As he earned promotions through the company, he was transferred to Auburn, ME., Plainville, CT., Puerto Rico, and finally Bangor where he retired after more than 30 years of service.

He was an avid sportsman, enjoying golf, hunting and fishing. Jack was a diehard Red Sox and Patriots fan. Throughout his life, he enjoyed spending time at his camp at #3 Pond. After his retirement he split his time between his home in FL. and his camp in Lee.

He was predeceased by his wife of 23 years, Kathy Whitney and siblings, Wilda Thurlow and Wayne Whitney.

Surviving are two children, Lisa Heuschkel and her husband, Mark of New Hartford, CT., James Whitney and his wife, Carrie of Collinsville, CT.; grandchildren, Whitney and James Heuschkel, Landon, Katahdin, Harris, Jack, Lila and Atticus Whitney; his former wife and friend, Sandra Landon; three step-children, Billie Murphy, Phillip Holmes, Stacey Fales; step grandchildren; and beloved nieces and nephews as well as many cousins.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St. Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St. Bangor, following the service. Private interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lee.
