Obituary for Dean Paul Kelley

Dean P. Kelley, husband of Thelma J. (West) Kelley, died August 27, 2015. He was born in Bangor, June 13, 1941, son of Arthur W. and Dorothy (Farnum) Kelley. Dean was a wonderful husband, father and Grampy. He graduated from Bangor High School and SMVTI, South Portland. Dean operated Kelley’s Exxon, Bangor for 25 years. He then worked for Darling’s for 20 years retiring in 2006. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Bangor. Dean enjoyed spending time at camp, fishing and hunting. He loved watching the grandchildren in all their activities.
Surviving are his wife, Thelma of 54 years; three children, Richard D. Kelley and his wife, Patricia, Gail K. Smith and her husband, Steven, Daniel A. Kelley and his wife, Valerie; five wonderful grandchildren, Brian, Kristen, Melissa, Megan and Colby; a sister-in-law, Beverly Kelley, a special cousin, Jim Kelley and his wife Midge, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, David A. Kelley.
The family would like to thank the staff at Westgate Manor for their compassion and care.
A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Friday, September 4, 2015 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St. Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., following the service.
