Obituary for Emma Louise Dobson (Bertrand)

Emma Louise Dobson (Bertrand)
Emma Louise “Lou” Dobson, 97, was promoted to Glory, November 19, 2015, at a local nursing home. She was born January 14, 1918, in Dexter, the daughter of Stanley and Lura (Foss) Bertrand.

Lou was raised in Portsmouth, NH and graduated from the Salvation Army Training School, commissioned as a lieutenant, and was a lifelong member of the Salvation Army. She had several local officer positions with the Army, with her favorites being those working with the youth. Lou was employed by Viner Shoe in their factory for 23 years. Following her retirement, she could be found volunteering for the Salvation Army, collecting donations with her tambourine at several local retailers including Zayre, K-Mart, Shop ‘N Save, and Shaw’s.

Lou is survived by her “adopted” family, consisting of the Larcombe, Sites, West, Hutchinson, Hardin, Hall, Gross, Eberhart, DeSautels, and Smith families.

A memorial service will be held 3PM, Sunday, November 29, 2015 at the Salvation Army, 65 South Park St., Bangor, with Captains Jeffrey and Rebecca Kirk officiating. Please wear something green, Lou’s favorite color. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments following the service.

Those who wish to remember Lou in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the Salvation Army, 65 South Park St., Bangor, ME, 04401.
