Obituary for Eugene A. Francis

Pleasant Point and Bangor - Eugene A. Francis - Eugene A. Francis of the Passamaquoddy Tribe passed away at his home, Branches, LLC in Bangor, Maine surrounded by friends and family on Feb. 4, 2016. Eugene was born on Jan. 12, 1960 in Eastport, Maine to the late Eugene Joseph Francis and Mary Lorraine Francis, both from Pleasant Point. Eugene was cared for and loved by the staff of Branches, LLC for many years. It was here that he formed many wonderful friendships. All who had a relationship with Eugene loved him dearly. He was a happy go lucky guy who had a great sense of humor and always had a smile on his face. Eugene enjoyed country music and attended many concerts in the Bangor area. He loved his Passamaquoddy heritage and enjoyed listening to his cultural drumming. His culture was such a strong part of his DNA, he never lost his understanding of his language.
Eugene is survived by his loving mother, Mary L. Francis; sisters, Cyril M. Francis and husband, Dute; Mary E. Francis and husband, Wayne; Yolanda Sockabasin and husband, Ed; brothers Donald Francis; James Francis and wife, Sharon; Darrell Francis, all from Pleasant Point, Perry. Patrick Francis and wife, Betty from Pleasant Point and Indian Township. Eugene also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Eugene was taken by the Creator to be united/reunited with his family members who have walked on before him. He was predeceased by his father, once tribal chief, Eugene J. Francis, his paternal grandparents, Leo and Ruth Francis, maternal grandmother, Annie Paul, sister, Ruby Ann, and nephew, Majik W. Francis.
The family of Eugene would like to extend a deep appreciation for the love, care, and support that Branches, LLC; guardian(s), case workers, etc. who have provided for him. Eugene will be missed very much by all. Branches, LLC will have a service of their own in the Banger area. Eugene's family will hold all of his services at his mother's residence at Pleasant Point starting Feb. 10, 2016. Call 853-2507 for more information.
