Obituary for Charlotte A. Harris (Harris)

Bangor – Charlotte A. Harris, 87, passed away on April 14, 2016 after a brief, but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on the family farm in Etna, October 12, 1928, the daughter of Carroll A. and Susan (Damon) Harris. Charlotte attended school in the one-room schoolhouse in Etna, just down the road from the farm. She graduated from Carmel High School in 1946. After graduation, she moved to Bangor with her family. Charlotte worked as an operator for “the telephone company” for 34 years, retiring in 1990.
She spent her retirement years enjoying Bingo games at the area Elks and Eagles Clubs and occasional visits to Hollywood Slots. Charlotte also enjoyed spending time spoiling her adopted friend, Luke, the cat.

She is survived by two nieces, Rhonda Crowley of Carmel, Roxanna Gould of Hermon; nephew, Ralph J. Harris of Carmel; a special sister-in-law, Mary Harris of Eastbrook. In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by two brothers, Charles and Ralph, and her Siamese cat, Sammy.

In keeping with her request, services will be private. Those who wish to remember Charlotte in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mt. Hope Avenue, Bangor, Maine 04401. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com
