Dorothy Beatrice Chaison (Ashe)
Dorothy B. “Dottie” Chaison, 92, passed away peacefully at her granddaughter’s home in Stillwater, May 19, 2016, with her family by her side. She was born in Bradley, February 3, 1924, the daughter of Fredrick and Bernice (Ashe) Rossignol.
Dottie was employed for 40 years at Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office, working as a jury officer and as a civil deputy. She began her duties as a jury officer at the Penobscot County Courthouse in 1967. She enjoyed her job and was well liked by her coworkers, prosecutors, especially Chris Almy, and judicial judges. In 2005, Dottie received the Roy Rice Award for outstanding contribution to the safety and well-being of the employees of the Judicial Branch and those persons who participate in court activities.
In 1963, Dottie married the love of her life, Sherwood, and they shared 45 wonderful years of marriage. In earlier years, she enjoyed spending time at her camp on Lucerne Lake and camping in her RV by the ocean in Belfast. Dottie loved soaring in the skies with Sherwood in their Cessna plane. She loved to travel and spent vacations in Europe, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas and the Virgin Islands. She resided in Zephyrhills, FL in the winter months and looked forward to the warm weather and sunshine. Her favorite holidays were Thanksgiving and Christmas and spending them with her family.
Dottie was lovingly cared for by her granddaughter, Melissa Jordan, who remained with her and by her side upon her passing. Her family, friends, her love of pets and her devotion to her faith were all important aspects in her life. She will always be loved and missed by her family who adored this beautiful lady. Her family thanks Beacon Hospice for the care they provided.
Dottie is survived by her daughter, Ginger Brown and her husband, Philip; son, Dwight Perkins and his wife, Rose; stepchildren, Keven Chaison, Skip Chaison, Bonnie Birch; siblings, Norman Rossignol and Rosemarie Hooks, and Leo Rossignol and his wife, Maye; 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren.
