Harold L. Call, 78 of Kenduskeag, Maine passed away at home on July 14, 2016. In 2009 Harold overcame his battle with colon cancer and was later diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Harold was blessed with seven more wonderful years of life before the cancer returned. He was born March 31, 1938 in Bangor, the son of Harold L. and Pauline M. (Shapleigh) Call.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary L. (Girvan) Call; his daughter Kimberly Hikel and son-in-law, Peter of Kenduskeag; his son Michael Call and daughter-in-law, Tami of Corinth; three precious grandchildren, Kacy Hikel, Matthew Hikel and Abigail Call; brothers Galen Call of Levant, Kenneth Call of Hermon, Charles Call of Florida, and Gerald Call of New York; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Harold attended Glenburn and Bangor Schools and worked for Banks Auto before joining the United States Army in February, 1961 and served until February, 1964 stationed in Fort Eustis, Virginia. In 1961, Harold and Mary were married and in 1964, they moved back to Maine to build a house and raise their family. Harold worked at the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad for 32 years until his retirement in 1996.

He was a member of the Kenduskeag Union Church, Kenduskeag Masonic Lodge #137 AF&AM and Antique Treasures of Maine antique automobile club. Harold enjoyed every minute of his retirement and kept busy with many hobbies and pastimes while spending time with family. During his winters in Maine he enjoyed snowmobiling and cross country skiing, until eventually becoming a snowbird and spending his winters in Florida. He enjoyed playing golf, taking walks in the warm Florida evenings with his wife and playing cards with their many neighbors and friends. Harold always kept busy tinkering, building houses, four wheeling, boating and spending time at camp on Schoodic Lake. He always enjoyed helping others with their projects and had a strong appreciation for antique automobiles. He will be remembered for his dry sense of humor, strict adherence to all laws and rules pertaining to the game of cards and his love of baked goods.

In addition to his parents, Harold was predeceased by his siblings: Lorraine Lynn, Geneva Seavey, Robert Call, and Norman Call.

The family invites relatives and friends to share in conversation and refreshments, 5 - 7 pm, Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor. Harold requested casual dress, laughter, and good stories.
