Obituary for Alphonse Chaloux

Alphonse  Chaloux
OLD TOWN – Al Chaloux, 94, began his journey in joining the love of his life on July 21, 2016, surrounded by his loving family.
He married Myrtle Pomeroy on October 13th, 1942 and shared 66 years of wonderful marriage. Al began working for Old Town Canoe, along with his father, and continued his career working as a union carpenter. He also built all of his family homes throughout the years. Al enjoyed everything about working with wood. His passion was spending time with his family, whether it was camping, sitting by the campfire, or playing a game of 13 or pitch. In Al’s later years he moved to Marsh Island apartments in Old Town, where he made some very special friends. He so enjoyed playing daily games of Aggravation as well as the monthly “Night on the Town” with the Orono/Veazie Seniors!
Al is survived by his three children, Laurie Dempsey and partner, Dan Force of Hanover, Lynn and her husband Harold Dall of Bradley, and Randall Chaloux of Orono. Grandchildren: Robin and husband Ed Kennett of Hanover, Missy and husband Jim Harper of Orono, Michele and husband Chris Hepburn of Falmouth, C.D. and wife Bobbie-Jo Farnsworth of Orono, Erica Green of Texas, Jessica Smith Blesse of CT, Brandon and wife Hillary Chaloux of Rockland: Great Grandchildren: Megan, Katie, Corey, Taylor Charlie, Jack, Ryan, Brayden, Collin, Brennan, Ronan, Jaylyn, and Madison. Brothers: Hubert Chaloux of Old Town, Raymond Charloux and wife Joyce of Florida; many nieces and nephews. In addition to Al’s parents, Edmond and Lena Chaloux, he was predeceased by sisters Hilda, Pauline, and Mildred, son-in-law Bob Dempsey and daughter-in-law Pam Chaloux.
A graveside service will be held 11am Friday, July 29, 2016 at the Fairview Cemetery, Veazie with the Rev. Wilfred Labbe, pastor of the Resurrection of the Lord, Holy Family Parish, Old Town and Pastor Steve Smith of the Orono and Alton United Methodist Churches presiding. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 36 Oak Street, Orono immediately following the service Friday.
