Obituary for Reginald Henry Toothaker

Reginald H. Toothaker, died peacefully at his home after a long illness, Monday evening, September 19, 2016. He was born on October 29, 1934 in Newburgh, son of Reginald H. Toothaker, Sr. and Pauline (Whitcomb) Toothaker.
Reggie was a 1954 graduate of Hampden Academy, he received the Maine State Farmers Award at the annual meeting of Maine Future Farmers at the University of Maine and represented Maine at the Future Farmers of America Expo in Springfield, MA. Reginald served in the Maine National Guard and the US Army, 29th Infantry at T=Ft. Benning, GA from 1957 to 1959. While at Ft. Benning he won first place in the driving contest, “Parade of Champions.”
He married Inez Nardi in Winterport in 1957 and they had four children. Reginald was the owner and operator of the Newburgh Sheet Metal Co. for over 30 years. After he retired, he was a logger on his many woodlots in Newburgh. Reggie enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping and spending time at his camp at First Roach Pond.
He was a 50 year member of Archon Masonic Lodge #7 5 , East Dixmont, assistant Chief Aid Emeritus of Anah Shriners and a member of the Bangor-Brewer Shrine Club and the Waldo County Shrine Club.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Inez; two sons, Stephen Toothaker and his wife, Tammy , Craig Toothaker and his wife, Kelly all of Newburgh; daughter, Lorraine Laham and her husband, Rick of Walpole, MA.; grandchildren, Ben, Sarah, Rebecca, Matt and Andrew; great grandchildren, Olivia and Owen.
He was predeceased by his parents and son, Kenneth.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at the Maine Veteran’s Home for their compassionate care, especially Maria, Robin, Shannon and Taylor.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 5-7 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2016 at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where a Masonic memorial service will be conducted by the members of Archon Lodge. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2016 at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow at Knowlton Cemetery, Newburgh. Gifts in his memory may be sent to The Shrine Hospital for Children, 1404 Broadway, Bangor, ME. 04401.
