BANGOR – Lena Dennis, 97, wife of the late Lawrence Dennis, died October 11, 2016 in Bangor. She was born April 26, 1919 in Island Falls, the daughter of Rubin and Ida (Rappaport) Shur.

Surviving are sons, Ron and his wife, Rose, Mark and his wife, Kim and Hayden; six grandchildren, Shaina, Mariah, Josh and his wife, Marie, Joseph, Shawn and his wife, Erica and Aaron; two great-grandchildren, Zach and Alex; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband Lawrence, Lena was predeceased by her daughter, Michele Dennis.

Her family and family business, Dennis Paper and Foodservice Company, were the most important things in her life. She was a member of the Congregation Beth Israel and active in the Jewish community.

A funeral service will be held 12 noon Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the Jewish Funeral Chapel, 118 Center Street, Bangor. Interment will be in the Beth Israel Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor following the services Thursday.
