Obituary for Kathleen Veronica Daley (Driscoll)

Kathleen Veronica Daley (Driscoll)
Hampden and Brewer – Kathleen “Kay” Veronica Daley, 86, passed away peacefully February 20, 2017, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Bangor. She was born October 11, 1930, in Roxbury, MA, the oldest daughter of John and Gertrude (O’Brien) Driscoll.

Kay graduated from Brookline High School in Brookline, MA. She married the love of her life, Richard “Dick” E. Daley, Sr., October 8, 1950 and from early 1952 to early 1975 travelled with her husband and family to various locations throughout the U.S. and abroad as a U.S. Air Force wife, before they finally settled in Hampden, in the fall of 1976.

Kay worked many different jobs over the years, concluding with an administrative position with the U.S. government at the Army and Air Force Exchange Service in Bangor, from which she retired in January of 1995. At that point she could spend more time doing what she enjoyed … bowling, playing golf, spending time with her family, and going to Florida for many years during the winter with her husband.

Kay is survived by her two sisters and their families, Pat Bibbo of New Hampshire and Peggy Fernald of Massachusetts; her three kids and their families, whom she has devoted her life to: Linda Gail Daley and husband Gary Cyr of Glenburn, Dick Daley and wife Mary of Orrington, and Bill Daley and wife Carol of Prospect; seven grandchildren: Nicole Younger, Stacy Ward, Jon Rudnicki, Lauren, Jennifer, Rachelle, and Samantha Daley; two great grandchildren, Jesse Younger and Lilly Ward, both of Oregon; her special friends of many years, Ted and Julie Rudnicki, and Jim and Nancy Libby. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Richard “Dick” Daley, who passed away in January 2014. That left an unfillable void in her life. She has rejoined him again.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 So. Main St., Brewer, where a Funeral Liturgy outside of Mass will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, February 23, followed by the Rite of Committal at Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Rooms of the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith following the committal.
