Estelle M.  Rosenthal
Orono: On February 21 Estelle Rosenthal passed away at Dirigo Pines after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Estelle was born in Boston on March 20, 1927 to Barney and Hattie (Kohansky) Shuman.
A first generation American, Estelle graduated with an Associate’s Degree from Boston University’s School of Practical Arts and Letters in 1946. She worked as a legal secretary for many years before establishing AAA Maintenance in Boston with her husband Edward in the early 1960’s. Their business grew from 4 employees to over 150. Estelle and Ed lived in Canton, MA, for 36 years before moving to Hampden, ME.
Estelle was a vibrant, articulate, and intelligent woman. Her life centered around her husband, their children, and their grandchildren. Estelle will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Estelle was predeceased by her husband Edward in 2005 after 59 years of marriage. Surviving are her 3 children; Dr. Robert Rosenthal and his wife Barbara of Orono; Jeri-Lyn Shoro and her partner Grayson Wentworth of Hermon; Dr. Lawrence Rosenthal and his wife Linda of Westborough, MA. Estelle is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; Laurie Qualey and husband Matt; Kari Annand and husband Jim; Scott Rosenthal, wife Jenna, and daughter Isabella; Eric Shoro; Brittany and Sam Rosenthal.
The family would like to thank the staff--past and present--at Dirigo Pines Arbor for their loving attention to Estelle for 12 years. Also, the family extends a heart-felt thank you to Beacon Hospice.
A private funeral service will be held in Sharon, MA. Estelle’s wish would be for her family and friends to smile more, laugh a lot, and hug each other in her memory. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.
