Obituary for Andrew John Shyka

Andy passed through the gate to the next stage of his life on February 23, 2017. He is now hiking the trails, climbing the mountains, fishing the streams and ponds, canoeing the rivers and sailing the waters that he adored here on earth. He is meeting his God and reuniting with his departed beloved family, friends, and dogs, and meeting goodness loving people. As a surveyor and as a man, his dedication, honesty, and search for the truth were unending.

He will be missed by his beloved wife, Mary Anne, his children, Catherine, Michael, Tom, Matt, Joe, Polly, and Jenny and their partners and his grandchildren, nephews and their families, and special friends.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call 4-7 p.m., Sunday, February 26, 2017, at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main Street, Brewer. A funeral mass will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, 207 York Street, Bangor, at 11 AM, Monday, February 27, 2017. The family invites relatives and friends to share in conversation and refreshments at the parish hall, immediately following the service.
