Winterport – Reginald M. “Reggie” Porter Jr., 75, went to be with his Lord unexpectedly July 28, 2017, at his home. He was born May 3, 1942, in Winterport, the son of Reginald M. Sr. and Arlene (Curtis) Porter.

Reggie attended schools in Winterport and Hampden. He lived his life with his wife and kids as a lineman, traveling throughout the Northeast United States. Reggie was an avid hunter and fisherman, spending much time with family and friends at his brother’s camp. He had a passion for harness racing, and was a member of the Maine Harness Association where he developed many cherished friendships over the years. Reggie enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His love for his dogs, Peanut and Daisy, was strong, helping him through some of the last years of his life.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by the mother of his children, Helen Sawyer; granddaughter, Rae Lynn; and a brother, Albert Porter. Surviving are sons, Bobby Dale Porter and partner Bonnie of Wells, Wayne A. Porter of Saco, and Francis A. Porter and wife Julie of Enfield, CT; daughters, Regina Lynn Mosley and husband Randy of Ellsworth, Rose Elizabeth Porter of Enfield, and Teresa A. Marciano and husband Frank of Greenbush; 9 grandchildren, Joseph, Donald, Brandi, Alicia, Randi, Jennifer, Katelyn, Britney, and Makyla; 5 great-grandchildren, Danya, Robert, Caiden, Elizabeth, and Eviyanna; a sister, Patricia Oliver of Winterport; brothers, Allen Porter and wife BJ of Hermon, and Randy Porter and his significant other Kathy of Loudon, NH; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; and all of his friends who are part of the Maine Harness Association.

Relatives and friends are invited to call 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 45 Western Avenue, Hampden, where a memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 2, 2017 with Rev. Scott Connors, Pastor of the United Baptist Church of Ellsworth, officiating. Interment will be in Ellingwood Corner Cemetery, Winterport, immediately following the service Wednesday. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the VFW Hall, 41 Canoe Club Rd, Hampden, immediately following interment. Those who wish to remember Reginald in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Northern New England Chapter, 114 Perimeter Road, Nashua, NH 03063.
