VEAZIE – Lois Ann (King) Russell, 81, passed away peacefully Friday, August 11, 2017. She was born January 23, 1936, in Veazie, the daughter of Joseph B. Sr. and Isabelle I. (Spencer) King. Lois was born, raised, and lived most of her life in Veazie. She graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1954. Lois served as a candy striper at Eastern Maine General Hospital, and later working clerk positions at Grant’s Department Store and the NCO Club at the former Dow Air Force Base. However, Lois’ primary work in life was being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, dedicating her life to her family. She was an avid bowler, both at Family Fun Lanes and Bangor/Brewer Bowling Lanes. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Spencer King; and a sister-in-law, Barbara King. Surviving is her husband of 45 years, Robert Russell; a son, Scott Jon Casey and wife Gretchen; two grandsons, Ryan and Shawn Casey; and a brother, Joseph B. King Jr. Lois’ family would like to extend heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the entire staff of the Maine Veterans’ Home in Bangor for their tremendous love and care that they provided to Lois.
A memorial service will be held 2 pm, Thursday, August 17, 2017, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with Pastor Steve Smith of the Orono and Alton United Methodist Churches officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center, St., Bangor, immediately following the service. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Veazie. Those who wish to remember Lois in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the Maine Veterans’ Home – Bangor, 44 Hogan Road, Bangor, ME 04401.
