Obituary for Bruce Hugh Trundy

Bruce Hugh  Trundy
HAMPDEN – Bruce H. Trundy, 84, died peacefully March 6, 2018 at a Bangor hospital. He was born December 27, 1933 in Mexico, Maine, son of Albert David and Ivene Celia (Hammond) Trundy.

Bruce was raised in Mexico, Maine, joining the Navy following High School and served four years in Tangiers, Africa where he married Irene Thomas and was married for 43 years. They had four children, Cynthia Lee (Trundy) D’Amboise, Christopher Neil Trundy, Catherine Ann (Trundy) Dey and Zach Allen Trundy. In 1998, he married Pat Booker and gladly accepted her two sons, Shawn Booker and Kevin Booker, as his own. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Ivene Trundy and a brother, Alvin Trudy. Bruce was a graduate from Gorham State Teachers College and taught Industrial Arts in Calais and Mexico, ME. In 1967 he moved to the Bangor area and taught Building Construction at Eastern Maine Vocational Technical Institute for 30 years. Bruce was instrumental in the construction of the Bangor Baptist Church, now Crosspoint Church, and was a member of the Hermon Baptist Church. He volunteered with Samaritan Inc. Food Cupboard and was manager of the Glenburn food site for many years. Bruce loved to tinker and make things out of wood. He enjoyed playing music, oil painting and writing “documents”. Gramp truly enjoyed going to camp, telling stories and jokes and was an artist. He loved Jesus and telling others about Him and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered as an honest gentleman, so polite and respected everyone he met.

A celebration of Bruce’s life will be held 11am Monday, March 12, 2018 at the Hermon Baptist Church, 2496 Rte 2, Hermon under the direction of Pastor Garnett Chute.
