Winterport – Glenn Alter Bergey, 82, passed away peacefully September 19, 2011 at his home. Glenn was born in Lansdale, PA, the son of Michael C. and Sarah E. (Alter) Bergey.
Glenn grew up in Lansdale, PA where he was a graduate of Lansdale High School. He then attended Penn State where he received a degree in forestry. Glenn served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Navy before a lifelong career that canvassed the country including Alaska working for the National Forest Service as a surveyor. He was a proud Eagle Scout and even more proud that two more generations after him have attained this same honor. Glenn will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Glenn is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Patricia S. Bergey of Winterport; sons, Stephen and wife Diane of Belfast, Philip and wife Lena of Newark, CA, and Alicia Bergey Lentz and husband Tony of State College, PA; grandchildren, Dr. Jordon Bergey Fearon and husband Travis, Garrett Bergey, Lucy and Jeremy Bergey, John Lentz and wife Heather and their expected child, Christopher Lentz and wife Marisa, and Andrew Lentz; a nephew Capt. Curtis Bergey, D.D.S. and wife Norma; nieces, Lori Bergey and Lisa Grzymkowski.
A memorial service to celebrate Glenn's life will be held 3 P.M., Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Hampden Congregational Church, 101 Main Road North.
